In August 2015 SURFnet introduced SURFconext Strong Authentication which allows institutions in Dutch higher education and research to secure access to cloud-based services more effectively. Better security is particularly critical for cloud services handling more sensitive data. Tiqr is available as one of three authentication method besides SMS and YubiKey.
